I think there should be a new law…

That says to hold any kind of office in the U.S. you must read and memorize the Consitution. Perhaps that would stop stuff like this:

well, I think this ranks right up there with other laws that we should not be focusing on. Whether it is passed as the state religion makes no difference, it does not help to improve our environment, it does not keep people safe, it does not feed the hungry, etc. It does not do anything except for possibly clearing the way to post religious stuff in places like schools or office buildings. If it was made into the state religion, posting such religious things could be viewed as “state pride” and not religious. Then people could get away with alot more.

So you don’t think that it in any way violates the very concepts that our country was founded on?

This explains why most people pronounce the state’s name as “Misery”… 🙂

Besides, it wouldn’t matter even if there was a law. These things seem to be infintely open to interpretation. I think a better plan would be that we rewrite the constitution once every hundred years. That would automatically guarantee a civil war once every hundred years, and ensure that the reasons as to why these laws were framed in the first place stays paramount in the minds of the general citizenry.

And since we missed the deadline in 2000, we’ll have to start the next rewrite in 2100. Good thing I’ll be long dead by then 😉
