AFNI Talk
I met up with Brock and Cheyenne a couple weeks ago. It was good to talk with them about stuff, not just AFNI, but other stuff as well.
They were in the middle of rolling out a new image to the call center and it sounded like that was going really well for them. Cheyenne mentioned that the techs had gotten desks finally and that Mark had left AFNI to work for Batteriesplus as a webmanager or something. Hope that is going well for him.
Brock also mentioned that Shane had put in his two weeks notice and was moving on to somewhere else. I forget were it was that he said… seems like it was a hospital or something, but I think that was the type of job he had before so I may be imposing that information in there.
Brock said that most of the people in Bloomington (IL) were still there as far as Telephony and Helpdesk and such.
I also ran into someone else that had left AFNI and she mentioned that the call center director and assistant director had both left the BG call center.

John Mellencamp Greatest Hits
I am not sure when exactly it came out, but I found it last night and now have a copy.
It is a good CD. There are some on there that I don’t recognize, but that could just be because I haven’t listened to his later stuff much. One of the things that I always remember out my house when I was a kid is that it seemed like music was playing throughout the house a lot. If you ask me who it was playing I would probably answer Mellencamp before I thought of anything else. I think he was someone that M&D both liked and that was easy to listen to. The most vivid time I remember had to be so early in my life that there was no way I should remember it.
I remember sitting in what was the train room at the time, the stereo playing, “Hand to Hold on to” and the sun streaming in through the window. It had to be when I was very little since once we had Stacey the train room because her bedroom.

Looking at houses
Original thread from my old forums
I haven’t really gotten too far into it yet, but there is a house on the edge of Edmonson county that I am going to look at tomorrow. It is listed at $129,000, which with what I can put down will make my payments for the next 30 years come out to about what I am paying Mom and Dad for the place in Smiths Grove now. So far I haven’t had any trouble paying them, so hopefully I won’t have any problems making the payments on the place if I get it.
There are still several factors though that I haven’t even gotten to take a look at. I might be able to get the price lower, I might be able to get a lower interest rate, and I might be able to put a little more down than the original amount I was looking at.
There still is the matter of having to pay Mom and Dad the money I am right now, while I am paying the house payments too, until I get the trailer in SG sold. That might be kinda hard, but I think I can get that done.
I hate the thought of owing money to someone/thing for 30 years though. I have enough trouble with owing M&D the money I owe them on the trailer now and that is only about a 20 months of payments left. This would be like 360 months of payments. Of course hopefully I could pay it off before then, but still, that is a lot of money to owe.

Classmates.com
I picked up a “gold” membership to classmates a while ago and I have been using it to try and get ahold of some of the people that I went to HS with. So far I haven’t had a whole lot of luck, but I have talked to a few people that I have contacted.
Leah Reames
Lauren Dixon
Matt McMahan
Sean Crabtree (by way of Leah)
I hope I can get ahold of some other people that I have been looking for in a while.

Stacey’s in the hospital again
She has been in and out of the hospital the last couple weeks, because it seems that her medicine isn’t enough to stop them anymore.
There isn’t a whole lot to tell really. Right now they are just working on finding the right combination of medicines that will keep them under control.
I will try to post some more when there is some kinda change.

I have aquired a new laptop, thanks in part to WKU-Swimming, who has paid for half of the cost of the machine. After the mail in rebates, I will only end up having about $450 in it. That isn’t bad for a $1400 laptop. Smile
So far I like just about everything about it, including the extremely awesome widescreen LCD on it. It allows me to have a full screen webpage open and still have various things open on the side that I am working in.
Here is the link to the specs and such.

I haven’t gotten Linux onto it yet, but running the normal Windows XP (Not any kinda 64 bit version) it will still encode a DVD faster than realtime. Encoding at about 37 fps on the DVD I tried last night.

… And its good to have you home again.
I have been on something of a home repair/change kick as off late. I picked up a cordless drill a while ago, that also came with a flash light and air compressor that ran off of the same battery pack. That is great except for you can only use one at a time and only if the battery is charged. So while I was at Lowe’s picking up stuff I also bought a new pack for it.
On another trip to the mall I swung by Sears and got a nice set of bits for it. They aren’t just drill bits, but are also adapters and such for various things.
Then just last Monday while P was starting to do the dishes, one of the knobs on the kitchen sink broke. After a quick trip to Lowe’s I had replaced it with very little trouble.
So then since that was so easy we decided to replace the faucets in the bathrooms. That turned out to be a little tougher as one of the rubber washers in one the supply lines was screwed up (it had been screwed up for a while), so I couldn’t hook that line up without it leaking. So I had to wait until Lowe’s opened the next day to go and get the $2 washer, which meant that the water stayed off all night.
Also while I was a Lowe’s getting the bathroom faucets, I picked up an electronic thermostat for the place. I called Jim before hand to ask him if there were any gotchas that I might need to look out for. He told me what was going on with them and so I got the one that I needed on the first try. Not too much trouble getting that one in either and it is working good now too. Hopefully it will save me a little bit in the winter, as it tends to run the heating coils a little less than I think the other one does.
