Finally got a good method down and it works consistantly… You can read it in straight HTML too.

And what I hear is…
If you don’t follow me blindly the terrorists win. If you try and find out how I am breaking laws and ask me why, the terrorists win. If my approval ratings don’t go back up, the terrorists win.

Mr Bush also said he expected a “full investigation” into who leaked information about the wiretap programme.
“My personal opinion is it was a shameful act for someone to disclose this very important programme in a time of war,” he said.
“The fact that we’re discussing this programme is helping the enemy,” he added.

Samba3 using a Windows AD LDAP server
I finally got one of my Linux servers to successfully, and somewhat stable, connect to the state’s AD servers and use them for account authentication. Unfortunately, I did it on a machine that I have already monkeyed around with a bit, so I don’t have a document for it yet. I am going to try it on a clean machine Monday to see if I can replicate it.
So far though the speeds off of it seem to beat similarly spec’ed Windows machines by about 6-7 secs for a 650meg file. We using Gigabit Ethernet to connect the two and off of our Windows server we are looking at about 27 secs while off of this machine we are pulling 20 secs.
This is a big deal though because off of our STI server we are looking at times around 2m29s. So moving STI over to a server similar to these has become a big priority.
Hopefully, I will be following this up with some information soon.

Hating on the “War for Christmas”
I hate to even put that in the title, because I hate to help them get more exposure to that term, but I want to be clear on what I am talking about.
The latest spew of garbage from the fundamentalist christians is this “War to put Christ back in Christmas”. The first telling point to me is that they hired a “record number of lawyers” to try and make people not use Holiday Tree and force them to use Christmas Tree. The is a pretty impressive feat for supposedly “Non Profit” organization. I guess they have to find something to spend all the cash they are fleecing from the masses. They can’t save it, that would be making a profit.
Anyway. The point that I really wanted to bring to light is that Christmas isn’t even a Christian holiday. From the Wikipedia article on Christmas:

Posted to Hackaday
A few days ago there was a new version of VLC posted on their site and as a result Engadget posted an article about it. In the comments section I posted a link to my pages on it and how I setup on a Linux machine.
A couple days later I saw a real push of traffic to my site and saw that I had been linked to from a Hackaday article. It is pretty cool to get some traffic from this stuff. The VLC pages are pretty much the number one draw to my site after this blog and right now for this month they are in they lead over it.

I think I bought from these people
http://thomashawk.com/2005/11/priceritephoto-abusive-bait-and-switch.html
I think I bought my camera from these people. I don’t know for sure, but the place that I did buy from tried the same, “Calling and trying to sell you more stuff” deal that these guys apparently do. I don’t think I got anything from them except a set of batteries and a charger. Sounds like yet again, I dodged a bullet on online buying. ![]()
