Payraise denied!!

Original thread from my old forums

Yeah I think I posted something about asking for a payraise from the board of education. Well I found out Tuesday that was denied. Sucks.

Actually, it is a really interesting situation. I like my job and I don’t mind what they are paying me now. I ask for the raise mainly because I would like it and it would remove me from being the “Assistant” and into a completely seperate position that wasn’t dependant on Lamar’s. Because no matter what my pay will continue to be based on Lamar’s pay beceause my position is.

So in fact I hate that the raise was denied, but it just puts me back into the same situation that I was happy with before. It is like I want to be pissed over it, but I can’t really because it doesn’t make my life any worse or unhappy. It just makes it not “More Happier”.

New Mower

Original thread from my old forums

Yeah I had to buy a riding mower today. I got a pretty decent one. Not as nice as the one that my parents left over here last year, but Mom wants that one to mow around her flower beds since it is a mulching mower and doesn’t eject any grass clippings.

Geez it is almost like I am a homeowner or something.

Digital Picture Frames

I finished up my second digital picture frame. They are both made out of old laptops and use wireless networking to connect to the networks around them. This one is destined for the Board of Education in Edmonson County while the other one resides in my Living Room.

They are really cool stuff and I wish I could make more of them, because they are pretty fun. Unfortunately, I am shy a good source for Pentuim 200 style laptops. That is really about all I need, a P200 with about 48 megs of memory and at least a 2 gig hard drive. Well and obviously a screen that works.

I even had to correct some code and build patches to get everything working right. It was almost like I could program or something. Had to do some rpm spec file editing as well.

If anyone knows of a decent place to pick up laptops of those measurements for around 20 bucks each I would be willing to work something out. Obviously, ones that go faster are cool, but those are the bottom specs for what I want to work with I think.

Oh yeah that also reminds me that I need some pictures of people. Now that I have this frame I need some pictures of all my friends to cycle on it. Don’t worry it isn’t as big of a commitment as you think. You will only be on there for about 5 min at a time. It (like so much else that is digital) changes the way that you think about things. Now it isn’t such a big deal to have a picture that isn’t THAT great since it isn’t like it is on the wall all the time. Only every now and then.

Completely Original Redneck Joke

Original thread from my old forums

If you have ever set the headliner of your car on fire while listening to Freebird

I swear to you I was pulling into the parking lot today at the high school and was listening to Freebird on the radio. I pull up next to a car and look over to see this high school kid sitting in his car with his lighter out and the flame on.

I thought for sure there was no way he was sitting there listening to freebird on the same station with his lighter out. Stopped my car and shut off the radio…. sure enough, freebird was still playing in his car.

Sorry to my hundreds of Fans!!!!

Yeah sorry I haven’t been posting much here. It just seems like I never get a chance to sit down and chronical the stuff that happens on any given day.

I have picked up a new machine for the . I bought it from http://www.retrobox.com and I think I got a great deal. I have worked on getting it setup a little, but haven’t gotten as far as I hoped. I htink it will be called Metroplex as it will be the hub that I build for the network at the .

I spent the weekend at a conference for Technology in Schools. I didn’t really get all that I wanted to done, since I didn’t have any kinda internet access at the hotel. I also planned on reading in the video of Mike’s presentation there, but I forgot the cable for my camera so I didn’t get that done either.

I am looking at starting up a new website with the help of rainbow, hopefully I can get that setup here in a few and rainbow can start working out the design stuff.

I have been working with pushing out packages in the AD here at work. It is working pretty well and I think it could be one of the best ways to setup machines.

I also met with a group of people that are using open source in KY and I think that it could be a pretty cool group of people. I just hope that they continue to converse and meet and I think I will try to make a speech at the next Technology Conference if possible.
