Homeopathy is bullshit

The comments in the post about Laser Solutions made me think about the fact that I have never mentioned Homeopathy on here.

Sylvia Browne F’s up again 2

This might be one of the best things about YouTube. People can now catch these screw ups by people like her and put them out there for everyone, with no denying that they said it.

Again Montel tries to help her out, and again she just keeps screwing up and tells the parents that they are wrong. She tells them, “I don’t care.” when they try to tell her about the medical evidence of their daughters death. I would again recommend that the parents slap her in the face. The one good thing is that it doesn’t look like the father believes in her at all. He is just along for the ride.

Keith Olbermann’s Blog on MSNBC’s Site

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240/

I got sent there because of his stuff about 9.11.06, which is a good read, but there is a lot of interesting commentary on that page that should be read through.

I have never watched the guy, and I don’t even know what time his show is on, but I think he has a lot of similar points of view to some of the things I yell at the screen when the administration is on there.

HPV Vaccine

It shouldn’t be mandated. People should have the right to be as stupid as they want and if they don’t want to get their kid this vaccine, then that is pretty stupid.

People get too hung up on the word “sex”. This is not a vaccine given via the vagina. It is a shot in the arm and no kid (unless they are told) will know what it is, and even if they did, they wouldn’t equate it to a ticket to free sex. Any kid that would be having sex because of this would already be having it any way.

The only possible downside to this is that it is new and there might be some long term issue with it. I think it was rushed out of trials because it had the potential to save so many people. That is a little worrisome, but to rage against this, because it stops a sexually transfered virus from giving people cancer is lunacy.

Perhaps if there was a vaccine that stopped people from having children for the next 10 years and it was given to girls at the age of 11, then YES that might cause a rise in sexual activity (if that vaccine existed though would more sexual activity be a bad thing?). I seriously doubt that there are that many kids NOT having sex because they think they might catch . I mean how many kids even know exists? In all the stuff I was told about sexually transmitted diseases in health class, was never even mentioned.

Why do most people not want kids to have sex? That is an easy answer, the main reason is that they don’t want the kids having kids. Disease, harm and religion are all secondary to that (and I would say that religion is probably based on not wanting “kids to have kids”, but the bible has to say God said it, not list a valid reason.) Well this vaccine doesn’t stop kids from getting pregnant (and there is very little chance someone would think that it did), so why does everyone think that it will make them start having sex more?

People should start thinking with their brains instead of just having jerk reactions to words and phrases.

Email to WBKO about Laser Solutions

I have been concerned about the recent advertising on WBKO for Laser Solutions in Bowling Green. I understand that they are a customer of WBKO for commercial time, but I feel that WBKO as a responsibility to not promote poor services and products. Laser Solutions provides a poor service that is only out to take money away from your viewers in the Bowling Green area.

Laser Solutions promotes a service which uses Lasers to “stimulate” Acupuncture points on the body in an effort to help patients stop smoking. There are several problems with this. The first and most obvious problem is that Acupuncture has never been shown to help anyone with any problem, including stopping smoking. The American Medical Association has been quoted as saying the following about acupuncture and its ilk,

“There is little evidence to confirm the safety or efficacy of most alternative therapies. Much of the information currently known about these therapies makes it clear that many have not been shown to be efficacious. Well-designed, stringently controlled research should be done to evaluate the efficacy of alternative therapies.”

So even if it was just an Acupuncture it would still be of poor value to your viewers. To then add the use of Lasers to stimulate these points on the body is adding poor science fiction on to the top of poor medicine.

The web is full of information about this shoddy and incorrect service. A simple search for information on it reveals that the only people who are out promoting it are the people that are selling it. There is no scientific community that backs it and there is no evidence of its usefulness.

Please remove this from your advertising and from your news broadcasts, because there is nothing valid or news worthy about it. Your viewers in the Bowling Green area look to your station as a validation for things like this and I am sure that because of the segment on Midday Live today there will be several customers show up to Laser Solutions. It is unfortunate that when they leave Laser Solutions the only thing they will have gotten from them is a lighter wallet.

Thank You for your time,
